BIS-CLUB of CUJ hosts Second Standard Writing Competition

JAMMU, Sept 2: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS-CLUB) at Central University of Jammu held its Second Standard Writing Competition on the theme "Packaged Drinking Water (Other than Packaged Natural Water) - Specification." The event took place at the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, CUJ, and was conducted under the mentorship of Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu Prof. Sanjeev Jain.
The event commenced with the rendition of the Manak Geet and a welcome address by Dr. Sujata Kundan, BIS-CLUB Coordinator. Dr. Kundan introduced the distinguished guests, including Prof. Sanjeev Jain Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yashwant Singh Registrar, Prof. Ritu Bakshi Dean Students' Welfare, and Prof. Vinay Kumar Dean of the School of Basic and Applied Sciences. She also welcomed Mrs. Monika Sharma, Quality Manager Officer, Bureau of Indian Standards Branch Office Jammu, and Miss Bharti Thakur, Standard Promotion Consultant Officer, Bureau of Indian Standards Branch Office Jammu.
In her address, Dr. Sujata Kundan provided an overview of the BIS-CLUB's activities and the role of the Bureau of Indian Standards. Monika Sharma then delivered an informative session on the BIS organization, enlightening students about its functions and significance.
The highlight of the event was the Standard Writing Competition, which saw participation from 34 out of 71 BIS-CLUB students. The competition lasted for 45 minutes, after which results were announced.
The winners of the competition were Jagriti Gupta (Education) received first prize with cash prize of Rs. 1000/-, Sharyas Sharma (Zoology) received second prize with cash prize of Rs. 700/-, Lovish Manhas (Chemistry) secured third prize with cash prize of Rs 500/- and the consolation prize was given to Kritika Jamwal (Chemistry) received an amount of Rs.250/-
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sujata Kundan. She expressed gratitude to all participants and encouraged them to further engage with and promote the work of the BIS.
