Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 3: In a significant initiative to provide students with exposure to the unique geographical and cultural landscape of the Kashmir and Ladakh regions, the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. B.N. Tripathi, along with Prof. Rajesh Katoch, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, officially flagged off a 10-day educational tour for 65 veterinary students today.
Coordinated by Dr. Pervaiz Dar and Dr Mohd Yaqoob Wani, the tour has been meticulously planned to ensure that students gain invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities present in the Kashmir and Ladakh regions, particularly those impacting animal health and veterinary practices in high-altitude areas. The students will visit institutions like SKUAST-Kashmir, Sheep & Goat Research Station-Shuhama, High Altitude Agriculture Research Institute-Leh, Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research-Leh, and ICARI-Central Arid Zone Research Institute and others.
This educational tour is part of the university's ongoing commitment to providing hands-on learning experiences that complement classroom education. During the tour, participants will have the opportunity to interact with local communities, understand the region's unique veterinary practices, and observe the adaptation strategies of livestock in high-altitude environments.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Prof. B.N. Tripathi emphasized the importance of such educational tours in broadening students' horizons. He remarked, "The Kashmir and Ladakh regions present a unique environment that challenges conventional veterinary practices. This tour will not only expose our students to these challenges but also inspire innovative solutions that can be applied in similar high-altitude regions."
Prof. Rakesh Katoch also expressed his enthusiasm for the tour, highlighting the opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and the development of practical skills that are crucial for the students' future careers.
Pertinent to mention SKUAST-Jammu, prioritizes such educational initiatives that ensures students are well-equipped with the knowledge and experience required to excel in their fields of study.
