Strategic Move: BJP deputes Rana to expose Omar amid electioneering | Assembly Polls | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 3: In a strategic political move, the BJP deputed former National Conference leader Devender Singh Rana to counter his ex-political boss Omar Abdullah. A day after Omar Abdullah alleged that BJP appointed Ram Madhav as election incharge of J&K to tie up with PDP after the elections, Rana disclosed that the NC leadership was desperate to develop relations with the Saffron Party. In a shocking revelation, Rana, a former close aide of Omar Abdullah and current BJP candidate, disclosed that the National Conference (NC) leadership was desperate to form an alliance with the BJP after the 2014 elections. Rana claimed that the NC was willing to accept a BJP chief minister and even met with top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to request an alliance. Rana revealed that an NC delegation, led by Omar Abdullah, met with top BJP ministers in Delhi to request an alliance after the 2014 Assembly polls, but the offer was declined. He also accused Omar of hypocrisy, stating that he had forgotten his own history with the BJP. Rana disclosed that Omar Abdullah had met with senior BJP and RSS leaders, including Amit Shah and Ram Madhav, to offer unconditional support to the BJP for forming a government in J&K. He also claimed that Omar agreed to a full-term BJP chief minister in J&K. Rana stated that the BJP rejected NC's offer, both in 2014 and after the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He also accused the NC of attempting to revive stone pelting by promising to release "stone pelters." Rana had made similar disclosures in February this year, revealing that the NC leadership was desperate to develop relations with the BJP, even after the abrogation of Article 370. He stated that the NC was part of the NDA during Atal Behari Vajpayee's regime and made efforts to form a government with the BJP in 2014. |
