Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 6: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) recently organized a Health Awareness Programme at Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu, focusing on the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya. The session was held for the students of classes 11th and 12th, aiming to educate them on the importance of personal and environmental hygiene, especially during the monsoon season.
A team of health experts from the JMC, led by Dr. Vinod Sharma, Health Officer, interacted with the students and discussed the causes and prevention methods for these diseases. Dr. Sharma highlighted that improper waste management and waterlogging are major contributors to the breeding of mosquitoes, which in turn leads to the spread of deadly diseases.
"The monsoon season sees an increase in water stagnation, which is a prime breeding ground for mosquitoes. It is essential to keep our surroundings clean and avoid letting water accumulate to protect ourselves from diseases like Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya," said Dr. Sharma during his address.
The team emphasized the need for proper waste disposal and cleanliness as crucial steps in preventing the spread of these illnesses. They also stressed the importance of personal hygiene and staying healthy to ward off infections.
