| Jammu University employees students stage protest | | |

Srinagar: Disturbed over the rise in crime incidents in the campus, scores of employees of Jammu University on Monday staged demonstrations for a peaceful and crime free environment in the varsity.
The non-teaching staff on Monday morning took out the rally to protest the incidents of crime in the varsity. The protesters led by Mulk Raj were demanding crime free atmosphere in the campus.
Talking to our correspondent Raj said that the University was providing admissions to the students who have criminal back ground. He said that due to the incidents of crime in the varsity the studies of the students were suffering.
Referring to a recent incident, Raj said that a noted criminal Virender Singh Chib assaulted a student. He said why the University authorities didn’t verify the credentials of Chib and other students with criminal background. He said that though police has acted and arrested a criminal but his accomplices were still at large.
Expressing concern over the lawlessness in the campus, Raj said that institutions, professional colleges and other academic organizations should come together and eradicate the menace for the welfare of the students. He advocated the need for setting up a committee that will monitor the admission process and restrict criminal elements from getting admissions.
Whiile similar protest was held at Jammu University jointly by various Student organizations. Who decided to abstain from studies for next 72 Hrs. against the callous attitude of the University authority towards recent shoot –out in the V.C Chamber.
The students were demanding strong action against the culprits. The students demand removal of Dean Student Welfare for his in action they further said that students were not feeling safe under the Present set-up they further alleged that it was a mystery by no action was taken against Prof. Sushil Sharma who is being accused of molesting a Girl Student B.A Part-II.
Student further questioned as to why such a important job of given the assignment was given to the said Prof. when there were already two inquires pending against him for sexual harassment.
The students accused D.S.W of manipulating the things by the misguiding V.C they further said when the shoot out happen right in presence of D.S.W and Jammu University security Officer then why day did not prevent the situation from going out of hands.
When the accused were personally known to D.S.W who had just two days before the incident invited them to his chamber for a cup of tea.
Those who participated in the protest include Sunil Sharma, Ajay Taloon, Rahul Sharma, Raman Manhas, Nilazan Sharma, Pawan Kumar etc
