Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 6: The Electoral Literacy Club of Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, recently hosted a Poetry Recitation competition centered on the theme "Power of Vote and Voters' Awareness," aimed at fostering creativity and raising awareness about electoral participation. The event, held under the guidance of Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol, was part of the club's initiatives to prepare students for the upcoming 2024 J&K Legislative Assembly General Elections.
Approximately ten students participated, showcasing their original poems that emphasized the significance of voting and civic responsibility in democracy. These artistic presentations not only displayed the students' literary talents but also reflected their understanding of the importance of voter empowerment. Through poetry, the participants echoed the message that every vote holds the potential to shape governance and the future of the nation.
Dr. Meeru Abrol, who presided over the event, praised the students for their creativity and insights, urging them to be responsible voters in the upcoming elections. She highlighted that voting is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for citizens to actively participate in the democratic process.
The competition was judged by faculty members Dr. Mosmi Raina and Prof. Gagan Jyoti, who evaluated the performances based on creativity, articulation, and relevance to the theme. Pariksha Sambyal secured the first position, followed by Anjali Bhatti and Vanshika Arora in second and third places, respectively. All winners were lauded for their thought-provoking contributions.
