Jammu, Mar 23: ‘Palney Ka Poot’, written by Motilal Kemmu and directed by Vijay Malla was staged at Abhinav theatre here today.
A most powerful play is a biting satire on demagogy exposing shameless farce that is going on in the name of democratic system. The play shows how corrupt breed of politicians and bureaucrats succeed in subverting the system in the name of protecting it to concentrate power in their hands and amass wealth, for their own selves unabashedly mouthing slogans to mislead gullible people. The play lays bare the kind of games: They play the dirty tricks and gimmicks. They make use of wily skills, they display in violating principles of fairness and justice for personal gains. The central character of this play is a worthless indolent midget who does nothing for 20 years of his life except idling away his time in a cradle. Suddenly one day he surprises everybody by his uncanny ability to exploit the inherent weakness and discrepancies of the present political system
