| North zone cultural artists present folk dances at Akhnoor | | | Early Times Report Akhnoor, Mar 23: Over 130 artists from Manipur, Meghalya, Nagaland, Assam and Mizoram presented folk dance of their respective states at govt. Hr. Secondary boys school here today. The dance festival was inaugurated by such divisional magistrate. Soqat Bishwas. Speaking on the occasion, Bishwas appreciated the artists and congratulated the J&K cultural academy and north zone cultural centre, Patiala for providing an opportunity to the local audience of this border town to witness the culture of north eastern states. He said that through such programmes the inter-state cultural relation can strengthen and also helps India to spread the message of unity in diversity in the world. He further said that such type of interactive shows also help to the national integration. In today’s programme the artists from Sikkam presented Maruni, Manipuri artists performed Dhol Dholam Cholam and Lai Haroba, Assam artists presented Na Gurnai, Nagaland artists performed Nwang, Meghalaya artists presented Wangla and the artists from Mizoram presented Cheraw folk dance which was highly applauded by the students prominent citizens and the local audience of the Akhnoor. |
