NMC demands enhancement of medical allowance

JAMMU, Sept 8: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary to enhance the medical allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 per month. An order in this regard has already been released by Ladakh UT Administration.
Addressing a party workers meet Subash Shastri, President of NMC said, "Medical allowance in JKUT is Rs. 300 per month for the last two decade as the prices of medicines and other medical related expenditure has increased to a large extent so medical allowance should also be increased at par with central Govt."
He hoped that a decision in this regard should also be taken by JKUT Administration as it is a routine financial matter outside the purview of model code of conduct.
Stressing on the need in releasing of pending DA / DR of 18 months from the month of January 2020 to ending June 2021 Shastri also appealed the Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister to release the outstanding 3 DA installments arrears blocked while releasing the same to its employees and pensioners 2 years ago.
He said that since the price index and inflation on rise day today which has made salaried class and pensioners to face hardship to manage their livelihood.
Shastri pointed out that it is the fitness of things that financial assistance so accrued by way of rising Dearness Allowance (DA) is released without any further delay.
Shastri further hoped that the central Govt. will consider the burning demand of both Central/States/UTs employees and pensioners in releasing the 3 DA installments blocked arrears in favor of these employees and pensioners at the earliest.
Release of 4% DA beside merging of 50% DA with pension and pay and setting up of 8th pay commission were other demands highlighted in the meeting
Among other who were also present in the meeting included Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Bhushan Anand, Anil Gupta, Ramesh Sharma, Chaman Lal, Birbal, Raman Sharma, Vinod Kumar, Sukhdev Singh, Ram Singh, Subash Sharma and Ram Lal Sharma.
