Lupin Human Welfare Foundation, SKUAST-J organised "Training Programme on Back Yard Nuitri Garden"

JAMMU, Sept 8: Under the guidance of Dr. B.N.Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu "Training Programme on Back Yard Nuitri Garden" was organised at village Anandpur district Samba under the project entitled "Exploring Economic Opportunities for Farmers of Kandi Villages through Application of proven Scientific Technologies" funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The training programme was smoothly executed under the supervision of Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension at SKUAST-Jammu. More than 100 women and childrens actively participated in the programme.
The program was organized through collaboration between the Lupin Human Welfare and Research Foundation and the Farmer FIRST Programme was initiated by Johns with inviting Dr. Rakesh Sharma on stage. He welcomed all the presented women, Anganwari Workers, and women farmers Dr. Sharma emphasized the critical importance of nutrition and a balanced diet for holistic development, highlighting how adequate nutrition can mitigate anemia and improve children's health through the cultivation of iron- and calcium-rich vegetables in Back Yard Nutri Garden. The event commenced with a warm welcome from Anganwadi workers, who greeted dignitaries with a traditional song, setting a positive tone for the gathering.
Dr. Vikas Abrol also addressed the audience, underscoring the significance of soil health and nutrition. He provided valuable insights into enhancing soil quality through practices such as vermicomposting and stressed the necessity of regular nutrient assessments to boost agricultural productivity. Participants included Anganwadi workers and helpers from 15 centers, all under the supervision of Manju Devi represents (ICDS) Samba. Women farmers from different SHG have participated with Cluster Coordinator (JKRLM) Sonam Sharma. The event showcased a vibrant display of rangoli and stalls presented by the Anganwadi workers, which were evaluated by the dignitaries. At the conclusion of the program, certificates of appreciation were awarded to participants, and nutritious food items were distributed to children. Additionally, vegetable seed kits were provided to women farmers, encouraging them to cultivate leafy vegetables in their kitchen gardens. This initiative not only aimed to empower women and children but also fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility towards health and nutrition. The training programme was attended by more than 100 women and childrens. Manmohan Singh (SRF), staff under the project helped in smooth organization of the training programme.
