JAMMU, Sept 8: J&K National Conference today paid glorious tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on the occasion of his 42nd death anniversary in a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu. Early in the morning Quran Khawani was performed at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu and organized by G,H Malik Senior leader in which special prayer offered for the peace to the departed soul.
Rattan Lal Gupta, while praising Sheikh Abdullah, discussed various aspects of his life and highlighted his contributions to improve the conditions for the weaker and downtrodden sections of society Sher -e- Kashmir did the land reforms by abolishing Jagirdari system and giving land to the tiller was a historical step. Describing Sheikh Abdullah as one of tallest and visionary leader of the era of Mahatma Gandhi and Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, Rattan Lal said that his secular and progressive outlook would continue to be a source of inspiration for generations. His dedication and sacrifice for the nation cannot be forgotten.
The Provincial President said that throughout his charismatic political career, Sher-e-Kashmir symbolized the aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir people as no single individual could have even dreamed of doing. "The best tribute to Sher-e-Kashmir will be to strengthen amity among Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs. He urged party workers to take pledge to uphold and preserve the legacy of amity, brotherhood and communal harmony bequeathed by him.
Babu Rampaul, former minister and Central Zone President, in his address, praised Sheikh Abdullah's slogan of 'Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Itihaad' and its resonance throughout Jammu and Kashmir. The former minister highlighted Sheikh Abdullah's dedication to fighting for the rights of oppressed sections of society, regardless of caste, creed, or religion. He emphasized Sheikh Abdullah's role in nurturing and strengthening bonds of love between different sections of society and regions of J&K and Ladakh.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmad Provincial Secretary Jammu in his tributes said that Sheikh Mohd Abdullah shall be remembered for his contributions forever as he has worked touplift downtrodden and poor people.He acknowledged Sheikh Abdullah's tireless efforts and sacrifices to uplift the impoverished people of Jammu and Kashmir. He credited Sheikh Abdullah with bringing new hope to the fear-stricken people of all regions of J&K. He called for unity, integrity, brotherhood, peace, progress, and prosperity in J&K, along with the preservation of secularism, socialism, and democratic rights.
All the districts of Jammu Province observed 42nd death anniversary of Sher-e- Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah and paid rich tributes to the great leader at their respective headquarters.
