Intensify SVEEP activities to amplify voter awareness in every pocket of City: DEO Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Sept 9: In order to amplify voter's awareness, the District Election Officer Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Monday chaired a meeting regarding Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), here today. The meeting was attended by District Nodal Officer SVEEP; Nodal Officer MCMC; Nodal Officers SVEEP of all Eight Assembly Constituencies; District Social Welfare Officer; Chief Medical Officer, Nodal Officers of SVEEP NIT, University of Kashmir; Nodal Officer Colleges, Representatives of Colleges, Institute of Music & Fine Arts. While addressing the meeting, DEO elaborated the dynamic role of Officers regarding SVEEP to amplify the message of voter's participation & awareness.
He underlined the need to craft qualitative messages and programs to encompasses wide range of electoral process to celebrate the festival of democracy.
DEO emphasized on identification of places of prime importance with historical social, cultural, environmental & ecological importance to organise SVEEP programmes. Dr Bilal urged all the concerned to understand the power and importance of Social Media to portray and promote SVEEP activities to enhance voter awareness and participation in electoral process.
He also maintained that the administration is committed to free, fair & transparent election and ensure impartiality in the entire process. Further, DEO asked all the officers to channelize their resources and integrate their SVEEP activities to foster inclusive democracy.
Besides, the officers were directed to spread the information and significance of special polling stations established for Women, PwD & Youth, and Green Polling Stations.
Moreover, DEO highlighted the importance that Srinagar holds in the Valley regarding SVEEP programmes, as a huge number of people from different Districts live here or visit the District for different works, jobs, education etc.
