JAMMU, Sept 9: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, has inaugurated a five-day residential Management Development Programme (MDP) aimed at enhancing the leadership and governance skills of Elected Representatives and Functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The programme, held at IIM Jammu's Jagti Campus from September 9 to 13, 2024, brings together 32 participants from 11 states and union territories across India, including Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, and more.
The opening ceremony was presided over by key dignitaries, including Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu; Rachna Sharma, Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, J&K; and Sham Lal, Director of Panchayati Raj, J&K.
The MDP is designed to equip PRI leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage community governance. Participants, including Presidents and Vice Presidents of District Panchayats and Block Panchayat Samitis, will undergo sessions covering critical topics such as leadership, rural innovation, resource mobilization, project management, and the integration of AI in governance.
