SAMBA, Sept 9: District Election Officer (DEO) Samba, Rajesh Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vinay Kumar, led a collaborative voter awareness drive today in Vijaypur Market, aimed at encouraging commercial vehicle drivers to prioritize road safety and participate in the upcoming elections on 1st October 2024. The event was organized under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative by District SVEEP Nodal Officer, Ekshu Sharma, JKAS, in collaboration with ARTO Samba, Ramesh Kumar Samotra.
In his speech, DEO, Rajesh Sharma emphasized the unique position of commercial drivers, stating, "Drivers who come in contact with hundreds of people daily are in a strong position to inspire others to step out and cast their vote, amplifying voter participation across the district."
The event highlighted the dual responsibility of commercial drivers to adhere to road safety regulations and take an active role in the democratic process. The drivers were encouraged to lead by example, ensuring that their voices, and those of their passengers and communities, are heard in the upcoming elections.
