Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 11: Yogananada College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) recently hosted a Kavi Sammelan, a distinguished poetry event designed to celebrate and showcase the art of poetry. The preparation for the event involved meticulous attention to detail, transforming the YCET auditorium into a beautifully arranged space that created an inviting atmosphere for poetic expression. The venue featured elegant decorations, optimal acoustics, and a thoughtfully planned seating arrangement, ensuring a close connection between the poets and the audience. High-quality sound systems and strategic lighting further enhanced the experience, making each performance clear and engaging.
The event commenced with a cordial welcome to the attendees, including the presentation of bouquets to distinguished guests. Er. Dinesh Gupta, the Dean of Academics, extended warm greetings, setting a celebratory tone for the day. The primary aim of the Kavi Sammelan was to unite poets and poetry enthusiasts, providing a platform for them to share and celebrate their work. It also aimed to promote regional languages and cultures, such as Dogri, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu, through poetic expression, encouraging greater engagement in these languages and fostering cultural appreciation.
The event highlighted various social and cultural values, offering poets an environment to explore new styles and themes. The audience was captivated by the thought-provoking and emotive poetry, which stimulated reflection and discussion. The Kavi Sammelan featured performances from six society poets-Sourav Usha Parkash, Naveen Sharma, Abhi Mahajan, Garima, Aman Nagra, and Kanika Sharma-and five student poets-Arjun Mukesh, Tanvi Sharma, Vidushi, Muzaffar Choudhary, and Syed Faraz. Their work addressed diverse social and cultural issues, engaging the audience with their insights and creativity.
