| Sanjay Verma elected President CTA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 24-Prof Sanjay Verma was declared elected as President College Teachers Association (CTA) for 2009-10 for which the election was held here on March 20.
The Election Commissioners Prof. Dr. Satinder Singh and Prof. Madhu Gupta announced the results here today. The elections were held in smooth and peaceful manner in various Government Colleges of the Jammu Province. Various presiding officers were deputed to several colleges in the province to conduct the elections in free and fair manner. The counting of votes was done in Government G. M. Science College, Jammu.
Prof Verma, who secured 224 votes, was declared elected while his nearest rival Prof. (Dr.) Avinash Gupta secured 216 votes. There were in all 6 candidates in the fray for the post of President. In all 646 teachers exercised their franchise.
Prof Satinder Singh and Prof. Madhu Gupta expressed their gratitude towards the entire teaching fraternity for their whole hearted participation in the electoral process. |
