Director AIIMS Dr Shakti Gupta honours young artists of Natrang Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 12: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu honoured young artists of Natrang Jammu for their outstanding performance of the play 'Naye Yug Ki Naari' written and directed by Balwant Thakur at the convention centre of AIIMS. The honours were done by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Sharma Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shakti Sharma appreciated the performance of young artists and termed arts and theatre a must for the overall development of the students. Theatre and arts enhances the academic performance, develops the imagination and creativity and promotes cultural understanding and appreciation. Art of theatre can be of a huge help in the medical profession as it teaches self-awareness, understanding of complex human conditions, empathy, self-confidence, and the art of decision making. Earlier Director Natrang Balwant Thakur dwelt in detail about the emerging role of theatre in everyone's life. Theatre can be highly instrumental in improving the communication skills, development of self-confidence and desired that AIIMS Jammu should use the potential of theatre and integrate it with the existing curriculum to optimize the training of medical students. Aimed at inspiring the young students the vibrant play 'Naye Yug Ki Naari' was showcased at the majestic convention centre of AIIMS Jammu, The Play 'Naye Yug Ki Naari' speaks loudly about gender equality and the new-age women. Opening with a narrative full of depressing stories of the exploitation of women from birth to death, the play depicts the odyssey of women from patriarchal times-the harrowing experience of the times to her unwavering commitment to be a part of change and transformation. Fact remains that there have been significant achievements in doing away gender inequality, the journey towards dismantling deeply ingrained patriarchy and achieving women empowerment in India in true sense remains arduous. This eyeopener play is set to shake the society and will prompt all to give women the overdue space for growth to make India the most developed nation of the world. The play conveys a very strong message of the women folk seeking mindset of the society. The artists who were honoured by AIIMS on the occasion included. Mahi Verma, Simran Bhagat, Kibriya Gohar, Pragi Sharma, Aradhana Soodan, Shalini Bhagat, Lakshita Devi, Ayushika Rajput, Meenu Sharma, Aakriti Jamwal, Isha Gupta, Harmandeep Kour, Prerna Sharma, Divyanshi Sharma, Geeta Thakur, Simran Rajput, Palak Thappa, Pooja Thakur and Pratibha Verma. Senior Light designer Suraj Ganjoo was also honoured for brilliantly designing and executing lights of the play. |
