Early Times Report
SAMBA, Sept 12: To promote voter awareness and encourage greater electoral participation, District Election Officer (DEO) Rajesh Sharma, along with SSP Vijay Kumar, led a comprehensive awareness activity today under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program here at Budhwani Talab.
Anganwadi workers and other community representatives played a crucial role in the event, actively engaging with the public to spread the message of voter empowerment and democratic participation.
The event began with a symbolic ceremony in which flowers were placed in traditional leaf bowls and immersed in the Talab (pond) by the participants. The act represented the community's commitment to democratic values and the importance of voter engagement. The event saw the participation of several key officials, including Nodal Officer MCC, Gurpreet Singh, DIO, Pranav Manhas, other officers, Anganwadi workers, and members of the local community.
Speaking at the event, the DEO emphasized the critical role of voter participation in strengthening democracy. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of the district administration to make the electoral process more accessible, particularly for first-time voters and marginalized sections of society.
SSP Vijay Kumar stressed the need for security and integrity in the electoral process and ensuring a smooth, transparent voting experience for all.
A series of awareness activities were also conducted to educate the public about voting right, the electoral process, and the importance of having their names registered on the voters' list. The SVEEP campaign in Samba aims to significantly boost voter turnout in the district.
Nodal Officer SVEEP, Ekshu Sharma, who organized the event, spoke about the role of the SVEEP campaign in raising awareness across the district.
