GDCT, J&K SFD launch Major plantation drive

JAMMU, Sept 13: In celebration of Van Mahotsav 2024-25, the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT), in collaboration with the Department of Social Forestry, Jammu & Kashmir, has kicked off a large-scale Plantation Drive under the banner "Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam." The initiative aims to combat climate change, preserve biodiversity, and promote a greener, healthier environment for future generations.
Safeer Hussain Shah, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Social Forestry Department, Jammu, along with his team, visited the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust and the Brigadier Khuda Baksh Memorial Public Higher Secondary School today to actively participate in this significant event.
Commitment to Sustainability
Arshad Ali Choudhary, Chairman of GDCT, expressed his gratitude for the DFO's participation, stating:
"We are honored to have Safeer Hussain Shah with us today. As stewards of the environment, we recognize our responsibility to take bold action in the fight against climate change. Our Plantation Drive is a testament to our dedication to preserving the environment and building a sustainable future for generations to come."
He emphasized the importance of involving students, families, schools, and businesses in this effort, encouraging the community to take part in this green initiative. The plantation drive witnessed the planting of 50 saplings around the Trust and School premises, with enthusiastic participation from trustees, teachers, students, and local volunteers.
