North East Folk Dance festival concludes

North East Folk Dance festival jointly organized by Jammu and Kashmir academy of Art, Culture and Language in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala was concluded here today at Abhinav Theatre,
Ashok Angurana, IAS, Principal Secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, J&K Govt. was the chief guest. Shri Zafer Iqbal Manhas, Secretary, Cultural Academy was also present on the occasion.
Ashok Angurana, Principal Secretary, while speaking on the occasion, complimented the artists from North Eastern States who performed in todays impressive programme of Folk Dance. He said that India is emerging as developing country and supreme power at Global scene and its diverse culture is the important factor in the formation of the great India. While appreciating the rich Cultural heritage of India, he said that such interactive programmes bring the people of different Culture and races at one plateform. He congratulated Jenab Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary, Cultural Academy and North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala for organizing such memorable festival in the Jammu Province.
Earlier, while welcoming the audience, Janab Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary, Cultural Academy said that Cultural Academy has organized national level programmes in the field of Art, Culture and Literature. He said that two days Dogri writers conference and Dhanak III concluded yesterday at Udhampur and Poonch. He further told that Academy is organizing Gojri conference at Kathuia at the end of this month. While congratulating the artists of todays programme Janab Iqbal Zafar Manhas said that our country has rich traditions, Cultures and Costumes and such programmes not only help to preserve but also help to spread the message of unity, oneness and patriotism among the Indian.
In this programme more than 130 artists from Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam and Mizoram present Lai-Haroba, Tamang Selo, Wangala, Roina, Bordoishikla, Dhol Cholam and Cheraw folk dances which enthralled the Jam packed hall of the Abhinav Theatre.
Meetali Gupta conducted the proceedings of the programme while Mrs. Savita Bakshi, Additional secretary, presented vote of thanks.
