| FIR filed against ration dealer for selling foodgrains | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MARCH 24 (INFO)- The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department, Jammu today filed FIR against a ration dealer of Jammu city and suspended his licence for illegally selling the PDS foodgrains to a shopkeeper. According to a spokesman of the CAPDD, a responsible citizen and a leader of a social organization noticed a labourer carrying PDS foodgrain bags from a ration dealer No. 36 Mr. Janak Raj Gupta of Jullakha Mohalla to a Karayana shop of the locality and immediately informed the Secretary to Government, CAPDD who directed the Director CAPDD to immediately rush as Deputy Director to take action against the dealer. A team headed by Deputy Director ( R ) City who found truth in the complaint and seize the dealer shop. On the directions of the Secretary CAPDD, he also filed a FIR in nearby police station, Chowk Chabutra, Jammu. This incident comes close on the heel, the complaints received that some un-scrupulous ration dealers are clandensely transferring PDS foodgrains into the market for pecuniary benefits. The Secretary CAPDD has asked the department to intensify the checking of ration dealers and ensure that such type of illegal sale of PDS foodgrains is curved and take strenuous action against those who found guilty of malpractices. The Squad also inspected Jamal Sweet Shop, Sharma Sweet Shop, Prem Sweet Shop/ manufacturer, Lakshmi Sweet shop/manufacturer, Zum Zum Sweet Shop, Mohd. Irshad Sweet Manufacturer and Sahil Sweet shop and booked under the violation of use LPG domestic cylinders and a fine of Rs. 7000 was realized on the spot from them. The department has directed the restaurants, caters, fast food vendors, sweet manufacturers to refrain form using domestic LPG cylinders at their business premises and empathized that fruit/ vegetable sellers should display price list at their shops for the information of consumers. |
