Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 15: Taranjit Singh Tony, senior Congress leader and candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections from Bahu Constituency, has pledged to transform the region into a hub of sporting excellence by delivering world-class sports infrastructure for the youth.
Addressing a series of meetings while campaigning at Bahu Constituency, Tony reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the younger generation and highlighted the need for substantial investment in sports facilities to foster talent and promote healthy living. He emphasized the Congress Party's vision for a progressive and youth-centric Bahu constituency.
The senior Congress leader criticized the present dispensation for its failure to create sports infrastructure for the youth, pointing out the lack of proper sports infrastructure, including playgrounds, indoor stadiums, and training facilities. “The youth of Bahu have immense potential, but they lack the necessary resources to compete on the national and international stage. My top priority will be to provide them with the best infrastructure so they can achieve their dreams,” he said.
Tony elaborated on his plan to establish state-of-the-art multi-sports complexes, including facilities for football, cricket, basketball, and athletics. He also proposed the construction of indoor stadiums equipped with modern amenities for badminton, table tennis, and wrestling, ensuring year-round access to sports training regardless of weather conditions.
“Sports are not just about competition; they are a means of building character, discipline, and teamwork. By creating world-class sports facilities in Bahu constituency, we are investing in the future of our youth and empowering them to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives,” Tony stated.
He also vowed to introduce sports academies in collaboration with national and international sports bodies to ensure professional coaching and mentoring for the youth. Special emphasis will be placed on nurturing local talent and providing scholarships for underprivileged athletes, giving every young person in Bahu Constituency an opportunity to shine.
“My goal is to ensure that Bahu Constituency becomes a beacon of sports excellence in Jammu and Kashmir, producing athletes who will represent our state with pride on the national and international stage,” he added.
Tony urged the people of Bahu Constituency to support him in the upcoming Assembly elections. “I promise to be your voice, to work tirelessly for the development of Bahu constituency and ensure that our youth have access to the best opportunities.
Together, we will make Bahu a shining example of progress and prosperity.
