Jammu, Sept 15: In alignment with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Girls' Hostels of Central University of Jammu commemorated the Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st to 15th September, 2024, with great zeal and commitment. The initiative, led by the residents of Gayatri Bhawan, Gauri Bhawan, Durga Bhawan, and Saraswati Bhawan, was a continuation of the efforts initiated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, who emphasized the importance of spreading awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility among students towards their nation.
The hostel residents, along with staff, actively participated in a variety of cleanliness and awareness programs, embodying the values of the Swachh Bharat Mission. These activities were aimed at maintaining hygiene in and around the hostels, as well as raising awareness about the significance of individual contributions to cleanliness.
During the commemoration, Dr. Shaveta Kohli, Hostel Warden, emphasized the relevance of the Swachh Bharat Mission and encouraged the residents to understand the importance of their personal role in maintaining cleanliness. Residents also took a solemn pledge to uphold cleanliness in their surroundings, committing themselves to inspire others in their communities to do the same.
A highlight of the event was the Nukkad Natak, performed by students Ms. Aastha Gupta, Ms. Debopriya, Ms. Roshni, and Snigdha, which sensitized the audience on the importance of cleanliness. The play, delivered with creativity and passion, left the residents motivated and engaged.
Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu, lauded the efforts of the hostel residents and administration for the successful execution of the awareness program and cleanliness drive. He emphasized that these initiatives are vital in nurturing a sense of social responsibility among students.
Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean of Students’ Welfare, also commended the collaborative efforts of the hostel residents and administration. She appreciated their active participation in carrying forward the legacy of the Swachh Bharat Mission, ensuring that the message of cleanliness reaches every corner of society.
The Swachhta Pakhwada commemoration not only motivated the residents but also contributed significantly in promoting a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment on campus, embodying the essence of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
