SVEEP: District Bandipora Wushu Championship-2024 kicks-off

BANDIPORA, Sept 15: As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, the District Bandipora Wushu Championship 2024 commenced today at Salvatore International School, Shilvat Bandipora.
The two-day event, organized by the District Bandipora Wushu Association, was kick-started by District Election Officer (DEO) Manzoor Ahmad Qadri along with Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar, the Brand Ambassador for SVEEP activities, SDM/RO 14-Sonawari, Sheikh Murtaza and other concerned. During his address, DEO underscored the critical role of first-time and future voters in the democratic process.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to raise awareness about voting rights and the importance of participation in elections. He also expressed his enthusiasm for the championship, noting that it serves as a unique platform to blend sports with civic education.
The DEO encouraged participants and spectators to engage actively in both the sporting event and the democratic process, underscoring that civic duties are as important as athletic achievements.
Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar also spoke about the role of sports in promoting civic engagement and responsibility. The District Bandipora Wushu Championship aims not only to highlight athletic talent but also to incorporate significant civic messages into the event. He stated, “Sports have the power to unite communities and promote civic values besides spreading the message that every individual’s participation is vital for a thriving democracy. He further informed that around 270 boys and girls of all age categories from across the district are participating in the event and the event will conclude on 16th September
