Cleanliness drive organized at GDC Hiranagar

JAMMU, Sept 17: Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar organized a comprehensive cleanliness drive today as part of the National Swachhta Pakhwada. The event, inaugurated by the esteemed Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna, aimed at fostering awareness about the importance of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among students and the local community.
During her inaugural address, Dr. Pragya Khanna emphasized the need for collective action in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. She encouraged students and staff to adopt cleanliness as a daily practice, in alignment with the national mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. She further highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting environmental sustainability and community involvement.
A large number of students, faculty members, and NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in the drive. They cleaned various areas in and around the college premises, including classrooms, laboratories, and outdoor spaces. The participants also took an oath to uphold cleanliness and spread awareness about sanitation and hygiene in their respective neighborhoods.
Prof.Shapia Shameem, Program officer NSS along with Prof. Rakesh and Prof. Rajni Bala addressed that cleanliness drive is part of a series of events being held at GDC Hiranagar under the National Swachhta Pakhwada, a fortnight-long initiative dedicated to promote cleanliness and sustainable practices across the country.
The event concluded with a light refreshment to the volunteers and expressing gratitude to Principal Dr. Pragya Khanna for her in inspiring leadership and all participants for their active involvement in the noble cause.
