JAMMU, Sept 17: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce (DICCI), launched the eleventh batch of the Capacity Building Program on Small Business Development Units (SBDUs). The event, held at the Bharat Classroom in Jagti, aims to empower entrepreneurs by establishing 22 SBDUs across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, who emphasized the vast entrepreneurial opportunities available and encouraged participants to take advantage of government schemes, including the J&K Yuva Scheme. Prof. Sahay highlighted IIM Jammu's goal of creating over 1.4 lakh jobs through various initiatives and stressed the importance of hard work, humility, and ethical business practices, sharing success stories of prominent industrialists like the Ambanis and Birlas. He urged participants to dream big, use the five-day program to gain insights from established entrepreneurs, and contribute to building a robust business ecosystem in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean of Academics at IIM Jammu, reinforced the institute's focus on entrepreneurship and job creation through the SBDU project. He encouraged participants to collaborate and spark new ideas, leveraging the program for their professional growth.
The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a Campus Audio Visual presentation showcasing IIM Jammu. Participants introduced themselves, sharing their diverse backgrounds and aspirations. Dr. Mahesh Gadekar, Chairperson of the Centre for Small Business Development at IIM Jammu, provided an overview of the program, setting the tone for an enriching learning experience.
Other key attendees included Dr. Garima Saini, Program Director at IIM Jammu; Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) at IIM Jammu; and Shri Naren Karunakaran, Consultant for the SBDU program. Dr. Saini offered a vote of thanks, and the event concluded with the national anthem, symbolizing unity and shared aspirations.

This initiative is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the socio-economic development of the nation through the empowerment of entrepreneurs.
