2 Bovine smuggling attempts foiled

Udhampur, Sept 17: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, District Police Udhampur have foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Rehambal, rescued 27 bovines, 02 vehicles seized.
A Police team of Police Station Rehambal headed by its SHO while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka point Rehambal intercepted two vehicles (Tanker) bearing registration No. JK03B-1844 and truck bearing regd. No. HR38U 6789 for checking purpose. During checking of the above said vehicles, 27 bovines (11 in Tanker and 16 in truck) were found laden inside the vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.Driver of the truck namely Surender Singh S/O Dallu R/O Saharanpur, U.P was arrested on spot, while the driver of the tanker fled away from the spot after leaving behind his tanker on road.
All the bovines were rescued and have been shifted to a safer place. In this regards, two cases FIR No. 209/2024 & 210/2024 and under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Rehambal. Further investigation of the cases are underway.
