UDHAMPUR, MARCH 25 :-Strawberry Growers Association (SGA), Jammu organized District Level awareness programme on “ Scope of Commercial Strawberry Cultivation” under Technology Development and Transfer for promotion of Horticulture Scheme at village Mand about 15 KMs from Udhampur on Wednesday. The programme has been sponsored by National Horticulture Board and being monitored by State Horticulture Department.
The District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria was the chief guest on the occasion.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Udhampur, D.D. Dogra, Chief Agriculture Officer, Ch. Pratap Singh, Subject Matter Specialists, President, General Secretary and Founder of Strawberry Growers Association, Jammu, Sham Singh, Sham Gorkha and Mrs. Kesar Parveen, prominent persons and progressive farmers of the area were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC appreciated the role of Strawberry Growers Association in bringing revolution for ensuring bumper cropping of strawberry in Jammu region including Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Rajouri districts. The sincere efforts of the Association would go a long way in recognizing the strawberry cultivation as a means of livelihood security for the farming community in the State, he hoped. |
