POONCH, Sept 22: District Election Officer (DEO) Poonch, Vikas Kundal convened a crucial meeting with Nodal Officers from all three assembly constituencies of Poonch—Surankote, Haveli, and Mendhar—to review the final preparations for the upcoming elections. The meeting, which included Returning Officers (ROs), sector magistrates, and heads of surveillance teams, focused on strategies to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
During the meeting, the DEO received detailed updates from the ROs regarding the measures implemented to ensure a fair election environment. Key issues discussed included monitoring the potential influence of cash, liquor, and other inducements that could sway voter decisions. The DEO stressed the importance of vigilance and proactive measures to counteract any attempts at electoral malpractice. In response to the presentations, the DEO issued strict directives to the ROs and sector magistrates, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the guidelines established by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Additionally, the DEO directed the Nodal Officers and ROs to personally visit the polling stations to ensure that all necessary facilities are in place, further reinforcing the commitment to a smooth electoral process.
