Early Times Report

Akhnoor, Sept 22: In a significant development ahead of the upcoming elections, the All Jammu Kashmir Disabled Welfare Trust has officially announced its support for BJP candidate and retired SSP, Mohan Lal, from the Akhnoor Assembly constituency. This announcement was made during a press conference held in Akhnoor, presided over by the Trust's Chairman, Sushil Sharma, who was accompanied by President Sham Lal, Secretary Vakeel Chand, and prominent members Allah Rakha, Vinod Singh, Bimla Devi, Sapna Devi, and Rita Devi.
While addressing the media, Sushil Sharma stated, "The Trust has unanimously decided to support Mohan Lal due to his unwavering support for our cause over the years. He has always stood by the disabled community, and after our detailed discussions, he has assured us that our issues will be strongly represented in the assembly."
Sharma clarified that the Trust's support is not extended based on party affiliation but on the candidate's past actions and commitment. "We are not bound to support any particular political party. However, Mohan Lal has consistently backed our welfare initiatives, and it is our responsibility to reciprocate this support. Moreover, the BJP has taken concrete steps towards addressing the concerns of the disabled, widows, and the elderly, promising to increase pensions from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000, a commitment not seen in the manifestos of other parties."
Sharma further appealed to all members and affiliates of the Trust to support Mohan Lal in the upcoming elections, scheduled for October 1st, 2024.
This endorsement is seen as a significant boost for Mohan Lal's candidacy, as the Trust plays a pivotal role in advocating for the welfare of disabled individuals across the region.
