Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 25- In a unique gesture and unprecedented way, Jammu Police has decided to reach out to the people of Jammu by offering hassle free service at their door steps. To achieve this objective, the SSP Jammu S. Manohar Singh inaugurated two centres namely Support Centre for Old and Infirm and Tenant/Domestic Servant Verification Centre at a simple ceremony near Police Martyrs Memorial, Railway Station here today.
The Support Centre for old and infirm envisages to identify and extend help to the old people who are living alone and are facing difficulty in getting the medicines, depositing telephone, electricity bills etc. Police would help them in all possible ways. As number of incidents have been reported in the whole country regarding disappearance of domestic servants after indulging in criminal activities, Police would register all the domestic servants (household help be it a maid, cook, driver or anyone else) working in District Jammu at different places. The information of the domestic servant provided by the owner would be sent to their native Police Station for verification of character and antecedents. It would not only help in tracing out the servants after commission of the crime, but also deter the intending criminals who are working in the garb of servants in different houses. Verification is one way of inducing the fear of law in notorious domestic helps. The SSP said.
He said that Jammu has witnessed number of incidents where terrorists and other criminals have hired houses on rent and established sleeper cells to launch attacks in the city. As such it is extremely necessary to have a complete data of the tenants and outsiders in Jammu City. He said the Police Help Site has been established at a central place and number of people living in Trikuta Nagar, Channi Himmat, Sainik Colony, Greater Kailash and other adjoining areas daily pass through this place With a brief stop over at the Police Help Site for the registration of a tenant/domestic servant, all the worries of owner would be over. In near future Police would also provide free internet facility to the students and needy persons at the site so that they are immensely benefited by the use of information technology. Public can contact the Police Help Site on following Telephone Numbers 9469389001 and 9469389002, the SSP added.
