9/23/2024 11:33:08 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 23: Vishwa kashmiri Samaj and Jammu and and Kashmir reconciliation organisation hosted the much-anticipated launch and presentation event for I Am Shiva, a thought-provoking new book by Dr. Raj Nehru at R& B Auditorium.
The event saw active participation from students, teachers, and youths from various colleges across the region, with several distinguished speakers, including Sh. Kiran Wattal, Sh. Sanjay Mawa, Mr. Pankaj Dhar, Dr. Mushtaq Bhat, and Mr. Amit Raina, sharing their perspectives. The event delved deeply into the profound dimensions of the book, which explores self-identity, consciousness, and the convergence of science and spirituality, rooted in the ancient philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism.
In his keynote address, Dr. Raj Nehru spoke passionately about the motivation behind writing I Am Shiva. He explained that the book emerged from a personal quest — an existential inquiry to understand "Who am I?" The search for this answer led him to the philosophy of Pratibijya, which emphasizes self-recognition and the unveiling of one’s true self. The book guides readers through various stages of self-realization, from transactional consciousness (centered on everyday desires and needs) to transformational consciousness (focused on self-growth and higher awareness) and finally transcendental consciousness, which transcends individual desires to connect with the universal mind.
Dr. Nehru further elaborated on how I Am Shiva is not limited to any specific religious discourse but is instead a universal exploration of human potential. The book highlights the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern scientific inquiry, presenting a comprehensive model of human consciousness that seeks to harmonize personal, transformational, and transcendental growth. The essence of the book, he noted, is rooted in empowering individuals to recognize their inherent creative power and understand their role in the larger cosmos.
Dr. Raj Nehru's book 'I Am Shiva' also delves into the profound teachings of Lal Ded (Lalleshwari) through her Lal Vakhs, unraveling their relevance in the modern world. During his recent session, Dr. Nehru highlighted how Lal Vakhs, with their simplicity and depth, offer timeless guidance on self-awareness and self-realization—principles especially pertinent to today’s youth, who often find themselves navigating the complexities of modernity and tradition. He emphasized that Kashmir, being the cradle of civilization, has nurtured these highly scientific and relevant philosophies, and understanding them is crucial for fostering a positive shift in collective social consciousness.
Dr. Nehru stressed that these philosophies are not only spiritual but also practical, particularly in their application to skill development, entrepreneurship, and livelihood. By cultivating self-awareness, individuals can unlock their potential, enhancing their capacity to learn, adapt, and innovate. In a world driven by constant change, heightened consciousness allows one to sharpen focus, improve decision-making, and become more effective professionally.
This personal growth can lead to entrepreneurial success, as it encourages resilience, creativity, and leadership—qualities essential for navigating the challenges of today’s economy.
The session sparked a lot of excitement and discussions among participants, particularly about how these ancient teachings can be applied to improve personal effectiveness in both personal and professional spheres. Dr. Nehru also shared various meditative techniques to help individuals elevate their consciousness, noting that such practices can boost adaptability and skill acquisition, ultimately enhancing one's livelihood and entrepreneurial endeavors.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Kiran Wattal commended the book, calling it "a timely and much-needed exploration of self-awareness." He remarked that the youth, in particular, would benefit from its teachings, which empower individuals to go beyond the mundane and discover their deeper purpose. Also wattal highlighted the various initiatives taken by administration for overhaul development of jammu & Kashmir which includes improvement of
religious places there thanking Sh Manoj Sinha ji honourable L Governor
Sh. Sanjeev Mawa, in his speech, emphasized the book’s relevance in today’s chaotic world. He stated, "In a world filled with distractions and noise, I Am Shiva offers a clear path to self-recognition and inner peace. It is a call to reconnect with our cultural roots while also embracing a global perspective."
Mr. Pankaj Dhar added that the book "beautifully blends the wisdom of the past with the questions of the present, making it an essential read for anyone seeking meaning in life."
Dr. Mushtaq Bhat praised Dr. Nehru’s ability to simplify profound concepts, stating that "I Am Shiva opens a gateway for all readers, regardless of background, to explore the nature of reality and their place within it."
Mr Amit Raina, Convenor Roots In Kashmir shared that such events will help to improve the overall awareness of youths that can help transform their positive energy for the development of kashmir.
The event concluded with an interactive session where students and teachers posed insightful questions to Dr. Nehru, further expanding on the themes of the book. The overwhelming response from the audience was a testament to the powerful resonance of the book's message, especially among the youth of Kashmir.
I Am Shiva is available now for purchase, with plans for further presentations across the country in the coming months
