GDC Vijaypur Celebrates National Service Scheme Day

Vijaypur, Sept 24: NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur, reverberated with the spirit of community service as it celebrated National Service Scheme (NSS) Day on September 24, 2024, a day dedicated to honoring the legacy of NSS founder Shri Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. This event, marked by enthusiasm and fervor, brought together NSS volunteers, college students and faculty members to commemorate the essence of NSS.
The celebration commenced with an inspirational speech by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS Programme Officer) where she briefed the students by underscoring the significance of selfless service to society, motivating the students and NSS volunteers to actively participate in community service endeavors. She stressed upon the volunteers to work with zeal and zeist and prove themselves as volunteers and further stated that volunteers should commit themselves for social cause and community development.
Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Verma, Principal of Government Degree College Vijaypur, expressed her pride in the active participation of NSS volunteers and their dedication to upholding the values and ethos of NSS.
She emphasized the vital role played by NSS in nurturing responsible and socially-conscious individuals. The event exemplified the institution’s unwavering commitment to fostering responsible and socially committed NSS volunteers who understand the importance of community service and citizenship.
Formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (Coordinator NSS). The event was organized with the full support of the senior faculty members namely Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Prof. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology). The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (Coordinator NSS) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and co-ordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography).
