Jammu, Sept 24: As part of the ongoing Hindi Pakhwada 2024, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu organized a special online Hindi lecture today, delivered by Dr. Rajeev Kumar Rawat, Joint Director (Official Language) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. This event marked a significant step towards promoting the usage and implementation of Hindi in technical and academic contexts.
Dr. Rajeev Kumar Rawat, Joint Director (Official Language), Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and an eminent scholar, shared insights on the technical use, implementation, and promotion of the Hindi language, focusing on increasing its reach and utility in higher education institutions.
He emphasized the collective responsibility of promoting Hindi in these settings, providing a historical perspective on communication that traced the transition from traditional methods to modern technologies like computers, WhatsApp, emails, and AI. Despite advancements in communication devices, he noted a disconnect with our immediate neighbourhoods, underscoring the importance of interconnecting with one another.
He illustrated the necessity of integrating Hindi into educational and official frameworks, highlighting tools such as Bhashini, Anuvadini, and OCR2Edit for translation and communication. He advocated for Hindi as the Rajbhasha, asserting that while English may serve as an additional communication language, the essence of our languages must not be lost.
His insights provided valuable direction for enhancing the accessibility of academic and technical knowledge through Hindi, particularly in higher education institutions.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, expressed his commitment to promoting the Hindi language, emphasizing the importance of integrating it into the institute’s academic framework.
He reiterated IIM Jammu’s dedication to fostering the use of Hindi in technical and academic fields, in alignment with the Government of India’s Rajbhasha policy, and noted that the special lecture is a significant initiative towards advancing this mission.
