| NC-Congress responsible for long discrimination: Leela Karan | | "I AM NOT CONTESTING POLLS ON SAMITI FUNDS" | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 25-Holding NC and Congress responsible for the long discrimination with Jammu region, BJP candidate from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat, Leela Karan Sharma on Wednesday emphasized that Jammu needed to be politically empowered. Addressing media persons here today, Sharma said that both National Conference and Congress are hoodwinking the people of Jammu of their hollow slogans on discrimination and delimitation. He said ‘discrimination with Jammu is political problem and we have to fight it politically till all the three regions would get their due equal share’. Calling upon the people of Jammu to remain united for their rights, the BJP candidate said that there is sheer to make Jammu politically sound and it is only possible when we are united and vote for nationalist cause. Asserting that BJP will fight for ending years’ long discrimination in State Assembly and in Parliament, he expressed his optimism for BJP victory on both the parliamentary seats in Jammu province. Describing Congress as ‘power hungry’, Sharma said that it always used the people of Jammu for political benefits. In the meantime, he strongly criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of tabling bill for changing name of Anantnag into Islamabad and alleged that PDP has been working on and propagating the agenda of Hurriyat. Substantiating his decision to enter into poll fray, Sharma said ‘I have taken the decision to join active politics and entered into poll fray on the ticket of BJP because I want to represent Jammu in Parliament’. ‘Our 11 MLAs are already fighting a battle for Jammu’s cause in State Assembly and I am ready for the same battle in Parliament also with the support of people of Jammu region’, he asserted. ‘I had options to join other political parties but I preferred BJP because it is a nationalist political party and always talked and worked for the cause of Jammu’, he further said adding, ‘we have no problem with the Kashmir or Kashmiris but we are against Kashmir-centric leadership which has all along discriminated with Jammu’. Commenting on his contribution as a SAYSS convenor, Sharma said ‘as convenor of Sangarsh Samiti, I always worked to come to the expectations of Jammu people and fought battle for Jammu’s pride’. Denying allegations that he was using Samiti’s funds for Lok sabha elections, Sharma said that these funds belong to the Samiti and a Trust has been constituted to handle the money for raising martyr’s memorial and utilizing it for the dependents of those who sacrificed during the Amarnath land agitation.
