GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organizes activities

UDHAMPUR, Sept 26: To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti Celebration, GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized a series of activities under the theme "Truth and Non Violence". The activities included Bhajan Singing, Poster making, Slogan Writing, Reels making and Essay Writing competition. These activities were organised under the able patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the college to honour Mahatma Gandhi, Father of Nation for his significant contributions to the country.
The event started with bhajan singing competition in which about 6 participants participated and sang songs dedicated to Gandhiji's unbound love for music. Ms. Anju, of Semester 5th, Ms. Rushi Dogra of Semester 3rd, Ms. Sonam Rajput of Semester 3rd secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Further a poster making and slogan writing competition was organized in which about 15 students participated depicting their messages through posters and slogans. Ms. Madiha Mir of Semester 3rd secured 1st position in Slogan writing competition whereas Ms. Reeta Jamwal secured 1st position in Poster making competition. This was followed by a reel making competition in which students made a 30 second reel based on Gandhiji's principle of "simple living and high thinking. An essay writing competition was also a part of the event in which about 10 students participated and wrote essay on Gandhiji's Birth and life, philosophy, legacy, action, social reforms, truth, non-violence, simplicity, freedom etc.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Seema Arora, Principal of the college honoured Mahatma Gandhi and said that he is known for his simplicity, self-confidence, truthfulness, and empathetic nature. He was a renowned freedom fighter and an authoritative & powerful leader who played an essential role in India's struggle for Independence against British rule of India. He was also considered the father of the country. What took his status 'legendary' heights was how he decided to make simplicity a part of his being. Once Gandhi became an active part of the Indian freedom struggle, he changed many aspects of his own existence & lifestyle. He decided to lead from the front and set an example. In the end she praised the students for taking part in the activities with zeal and enthusiasm as well as staff too for organizing the event.
The convenor of the program was Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Assistant Professor in sociology. Others present in the event were Prof. Rekha Sharma, Assistant Professor in Dogri and Mr. Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal.
