RS PURA, Sept 27: In continuation to the series of activities on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, the Department of Education in collaboration with NSS Unit of Government Degree College R. S. Pura on 27th Sept;2024 organized a Group Discussion on 'Gandhi ji's Contribution to Indian Education' to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti. The event was organized under the guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, Principal of the College.A total of 20 students actively participated in the discussion and put forth their thoughts.Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour said that Gandhi Ji advocated imparting education in mother tongue and asked for activity centered education to make the children skilled and independent.She further added that Gandhi ji wanted to construct small, self-reliant communities with its ideal citizens being all industrious, self-respecting and generous individuals.In Gandhiji's educational thoughts the development of the personality of a child is more important than mere literacy or knowledge of different subjects.Prof. Neelam Kumari HOD of Department of Education, spoke on different aspects of Gandhi Ji's views on the Education System.Faculty members present on the occasion were Dr Savtanter kour, Dr Raj Kumari and Prof Jai Mala Thakur. |
