JMC organises awareness programme

JAMMU, Sept 27: MVO section, JMC organized an Awareness programme on Environmental Management of Dairies/ Gaushalas and adoption of scientific dung disposal mechanisms at Gurdayal Dairy, Sanjay Nagar today on 27th September, 2024.
VAS, JMC, Dr. Divya Sharma and other officials of Veterinary section of JMC were present in the programme. The dairy owners & gaushala operators of Sanjay Nagar were invited in the programme for making them aware regarding management of dairies/ gaushalas & proper scientific dung disposal mechanisms viz. Installation of Biogas Plant, Vermi-compost unit, compost pits etc. to be adopted in their dairy units.
VAS, JMC Dr. Divya Sharma informed the local dairy farmers that Jammu Municipal Corporation has taken various initiatives regarding regulation of Dairies & Gaushalas operating within JMC limits in line with guidelines of JKPCC regarding Environmental Management of Dairies/ Gaushalas & FSSAI norms. Further, she informed that 82 no. of Dairy Units have already been registered with JMC and process is going on to register/regulate all the Dairy units/ Gaushalas operating within JMC limits. For mandatory registration, the dairy unit shall fulfill the said criteria as per the guidelines of JKPCC and FSSAI norms. These dairy units have installed Bio Gas Plants, Vermi Compost Units or adopted other techniques for scientific disposal of Dairy waste. She also highlighted the importance of such programs and events which will generate mass awareness for the stake holders to adopt and follow the guidelines issued by the regulatory agencies.
VAS, JMC Dr. Divya Sharma emphasized the importance of adoption of guidelines issued by JKPCC, JMC, FSSAI and in terms of directions of Hon'ble NGT so that every bit of dairy waste generated is properly recycled & utilized as manure and energy for the creation of waste to wealth.
