| HC suspends sentence, grants bail to then Custodian | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 26-Suspending the sentence of one year rigorous imprisonment and fine awarded by the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu yesterday to the then Custodian Jammu Haji Abdul Majid , Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Jammu Wing today granted bail to the alleged accused. This court order has been passed in a criminal appeal filed against the sentence awarded to the then Custodian Jammu Haji Abdul Majid in a case of allotment of land on forged affidavit on the name of a person who died 11 years before the date on which the affidavit was sworned. In the bail application in which senior Advocate Sunil Sethi appeared submitted that applicant is 76 years of age and is suffering from coronary heart disease and at present is admitted in GMC Jammu. Upon this, the Court issued notice subject to objections for one week from today the Court ordered that the operation of ordered sentence shall remain suspended. The applicant for the above said period shall be enlarged on bail for facilitating the medical treatment, provided he furnishes bail bond in the amount of Rs 50,000 with surety in the same amount and will undertake to remain present before the Court on next date.
