| Conduct MRI of disabled girl free of cost, HC directs GMC | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 26- Coming to the rescue of a disabled and a poor girl, Justice Virender Singh of Jammu and Kashmir High today directed Professor and Head Radio Diagnosis Government Medical College Jammu to conduct MRI of the petitioner free of cost. This poor people’s friendly order was passed in a petition filed by Shalika Sharma disabled girl through her father. The petitioner had to go for MRI but could not bear the expenses for the same. She made a request through application which was duly recommended by Principal GMC Jammu, Medical Superintendent and also by HOD of Pediatrics, but that HOD Radio Diagnosis refused to conduct MRI of petitioner free of cost. Justice Virender Singh issued notice to respondents which was accepted by AH Qazi Additional Advocate General on behalf of respondent No 1 and directed HoD Radio Diagnosis that he shall file his individual affidavit making it clear that as to what were the reasons/ rules which prevented him from not conducting the MRI of the petitioner free of cost, despite of the recommendations of Principal, Medical Superintendent and HoD Pediatrics. He shall also explain his position as to why he conducted the MRI of Suraj free of cost of on the recommendation of MLA. At this stage Advocate Abhinav Sharma prayed that respondent HoD Radio Diagnosis may be directed to conduct MRI of petitioner at the earliest free of cost as the petitioner being a very poor person and the petitioner undertakes that in the event of not being successful in the instant petition, her father would deposit the entire fee of MRI with the concerned department, Court ordered accordingly. The petitioner in his petition filed through Advocate Abhinav Sharma submitted that HOD Radio Diagnosis has conducted the MRI of one Suraj free of cost on the recommendation of MLA Raman Bhalla, whereas in the case of the petitioner it has been denied for the reasons best to known to said respondent. |
