Kavinder blasts Omar Abdullah's reckless remarks on revoking PSA
9/28/2024 9:37:40 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 28: In a sharp and fiery response, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today slammed Omar Abdullah's statement where the NC leader promised to revoke the Public Safety Act (PSA) and release all political prisoners if his party voted to power in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the meeting here today, Kavinder called the statement a blatant act of political desperation, aimed at destabilizing the hard-won peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kavinder Gupta expressed deep concern over Abdullah's reckless rhetoric, stating that such promises serve only to embolden anti-national elements and undermine the security forces' efforts to maintain law and order. He emphasized that the PSA has been a key legal tool in neutralizing threats to public safety and national integrity, ensuring that those who incite violence and separatism are kept in check.
"By pledging to release political prisoners-many of whom are involved in activities that threaten the unity of our nation-Omar Abdullah is not only playing with fire but also betraying the trust of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. This is nothing short of pandering to radical forces for electoral gains, at the cost of national security," he lashed out.
Highlighting the drastic difference between the governance of BJP and the National Conference, the senior BJP leader reminded the public of the dark era when separatism and militancy thrived under the NC's watch. "It was during their rule that J&K spiraled into chaos, with no vision or strategy to counter the menace of terrorism. Now, after the abrogation of Article 370 and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir is marching on the path of peace, development, and progress," he added.
Kavinder Gupta also stated that the BJP government has not only restored peace but has also embarked on an unprecedented development spree, ensuring that every citizen in J&K benefits from the fruits of democracy. "The promises made by the National Conference are not just hollow but dangerous. Releasing those who pose a threat to our country is nothing short of endorsing separatism," he cautioned.
Kavinder urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to see through the divisive politics of the National Conference, reiterating that the BJP remains committed to safeguarding the region's stability, unity, and development. "We cannot afford to let power-hungry politicians drag J&K back into the dark ages. The BJP stands firm in its resolve to ensure that the hard-earned peace and prosperity are preserved for future generations," he concluded.
Kavinder Gupta urged the people of Jammu & Kashmir to reject these political gimmicks and choose a government that prioritizes their safety, dignity, and development. The BJP will continue to stand as a bulwark against any attempts to weaken the region's stability."
