JAMMU, Sept 30: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, The Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at GGM Science College, Jammu, organized a series of inspiring events to commemorate the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings on non-violence and truth. The broad theme for the activities was "Gandhian Philosophy of Non-Violence and Truth," focusing on how these principles continue to shape societal values today.
The events included a seminar, slogan writing competition, essay writing competition, bhajan singing, and reel-making activities. The theme for the essay writing competition was "Gandhi Ji's Vision for a Sustainable Future," encouraging participants to reflect on Gandhi's ideals of environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
In addition to the creative and intellectual events, a cleanliness drive was conducted by the students, emphasizing how education plays a pivotal role in promoting cleanliness and sustainability in society. This initiative reflected Gandhi's belief in cleanliness as a moral responsibility and its connection to both personal and environmental well-being.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from students, who engaged deeply with Gandhi's philosophy and its relevance in the modern world.
The entire event was organized under the patronage of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, and the Convenor of the Centre, Dr. Seema Gandotra. Coordination for the event was led by Dr. Shalini Sharma, Prof. Sunita Kumari, and Prof. Mehnaz Bano.
The series of events not only honored the Father of the Nation but also served as a platform for students to express their views on how Gandhian principles can inspire a peaceful and sustainable future.
