IIM concludes Hindi Pakhwada 2024 with a Grand Ceremony

Jammu, Sept 30: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu marked the conclusion of Hindi Pakhwada 2024 with a grand ceremony, highlighting the importance of promoting Hindi in technical and academic fields. The two-week program aimed to encourage the use of Hindi in official and academic areas, featuring various competitions and activities. The closing ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Academic Advisor, University of Jammu. Also present at the event were Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha Committee, IIM Jammu.
The ceremony featured poetry recitals, showcasing the artistic and linguistic talents of IIM Jammu participants. Awards were presented to those who excelled in the competitions held over the two weeks, recognizing their contribution to the promotion of Hindi.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal emphasized the relevance of Hindi in shaping the academic and cultural environment across the country. He narrated the story of the origin of the Hindi language and explained how it connects with other languages across oceans. He lauded IIM Jammu’s commitment to promoting Hindi and urged the academic community to continue these efforts to enrich the language in modern, academic, and technological contexts.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, emphasized the significance of Hindi as a language of unity within the Indian education system and reiterated the institute’s commitment to incorporating Hindi in administrative and academic work. He praised the efforts of all involved in organizing Hindi Pakhwada and reaffirmed IIM Jammu’s ongoing mission to preserve India’s rich linguistic heritage.
Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha Committee, IIM Jammu, presented a detailed report on Hindi Pakhwad, which included essay writing, poetry competitions, Hindi debates, and workshops. She expressed gratitude to all the participants, especially the students, for their contribution to the success of the event.
In the Hindi poetry competition, Bhavesh Singh secured first place, followed by Mohammad Haseen in second place and Anant Srivastava in third place. The first consolation prize was awarded to Sandeep Singh Jamwal, while the second consolation prize went to Mansi Gupta. In the Hindi extempore speech competition, Abhinav Pandey claimed first place, Vijay Anant Kamble secured second place, and Srishti Gupta earned third place. The first consolation prize was given to Nidhi Yadav, and the second consolation prize was awarded to Dinesh Sadashiv Shelar. In the Hindi debate competition, Ananya Tiwari secured first place, Ankit Agarwala took second place, and Abhinav Pandey was awarded third place. The first consolation prize went to Vijay Anant Kamble, while the second consolation prize was awarded to Gauri Janrao.
The vote oft thanks was proposed by Shri Abhay Kumar Awasthi, Hindi Rajbhasha Officer, IIM Jammu. Hindi Pakhwada at IIM Jammu was not only a step toward promoting Hindi as a language of communication but also as a medium for intellectual and academic discourse. This event successfully highlighted Hindi’s role in enriching the academic culture of the institute and fostered a deep connection with India’s linguistic traditions.
