CU Jammu celebrates Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary

JAMMU, Oct 2: Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ji and 10th Anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was celebrated at Central University of Jammu.
The celebration was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor CU Jammu Prof. Sanjeev Jain.
A series of events were organized to promote cleanliness and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy India. His leadership is instrumental in motivating the residents to actively contribute to the Swachh Bharat mission.
The celebrations kicked off with an enthusiastic procession, where residents marched with slogans such as "Swachhta Hi Seva," "Swachh Bharat Swastha Bharat," and "Har Bhartiya Ka Ek Hi Naara, Swachh Hoga Desh Hamara," emphasizing the collective responsibility of every citizen in maintaining a clean nation.
As part of the celebrations, several competitions were organized, including Poster Making, Collage Making, Poetry Writing, and Documentary Making, showcasing the creativity and passion of the university students towards the Swachh Bharat mission. The results of the competitions are as follows:
In the Collage Making Competition, the first position is secured by Ms. Aastha from the Department of Educational Studies. The second position is shared by Ms. Deeksha from the Department of Physics and Ms. Debopriya from the Department of Economics. The third position was awarded jointly to Ms. Epsita from the NSS Department and Ms. Shrowti from the Department of Botany.
In the Poster Making Competition, Ms. Zeleen from the Department of Physics secured the first position, followed by Ms. Snigdha, also from the Department of Physics, who won the second position. The third position went to Ms. Shrowti from the Department of Botany.
For the Poetry Writing Competition in the Hindi category, Ms. Shrowti from the Department of Botany took the first position, while Ms. Debopriya from the Department of Economics secured the second position. In the English category, Ms. Epsita from the NSS Department claimed the first position, followed by Ms. Diksha from the Department of Physics in second place, with Ms. Diya and Ms. Aastha from the Department of Educational Studies sharing the third position.
In the Documentary Making Competition, Ms. Diya from the Department of Educational Studies earned the first position.
The events, organized by the university administration, were designed to sensitize students and the broader community to their responsibilities towards the nation, emphasizing cleanliness as a collective civic duty. These activities not only celebrated the principles of Mahatma Gandhi but also highlighted the importance of sustaining the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as a movement that empowers every citizen to contribute to a cleaner and healthier India.
