PCC pays tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bhadur Shastri

JAMMU, Oct 2: JKPCC held an impressive functions here today at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu in which rich tributes were paid to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Floral tributes were also paid to Former Prime minister Sh. Lal Bhadur Shastri ji on his birth anniversary today. The function was presided over by Shri Raman Bhalla, Working President PCC and attended by Ravinder Sharma, Sr. Vice President & Chief Spokesperson PCC, Ved Mahajan, Vice President PCC Incharge HQ, Sdr. Gurmukh Singh, Th. Manmohan Singh, (President DCC Jammu Urban), Shashi Sharma, Amrit Bali, Narinder Sharma, Praveen Sarwar Khan, Vijay Sharma (Seva Dal), Bhavishya Sudan, Manjit Singh Jatt, Neeraj Guptta, Thakur Hoshiyar Singh, Sahil Sharma, Michael Wazir, Ricky Dalotra, Rakesh Sharma, S. Manjeet Singh Bedi, S. Dara Singh, Zahoor Tantery and others.
Addressing the gathering Shri Raman Bhalla said that the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi is relevant for all times to come and even more relevant today when an atmosphere of conflicts and violence prevails in different parts of the world. He said that Mahatma Gandhi led the nation to freedom through non-violence against the mighty British rulers. He said that India is known allover world by the philosphy of Non-Violence and tolerance, since India as a pluralistic society has proved itself to be the most successful democracy in the world.
He said that Mahatma Gandhi was torch bearer of peace, religious harmony, Non-Violence and truth in the world and his birth day has been declared as international Non-Violence day by the united nations . He said that there is conflicts of ideology between those who followed the ideology and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and those who were opposed to his philosophy and assassinated him . Today is the time that those who truly believe in his ideology must follow and strengthen his ideology for the unity and integrity of the country.
He also remembered the contributions of Lal Bhadur Shastri and paid rich tributes to him for his outstanding role in the freedom struggle and later in different capacities especially as Prime Minister. He said that Shastri Ji was symbol of honesty, integrity, and dedications towards the nation
Ravinder Sharma while paying floral tributes paid floral tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi said that the stalwarts of freedom struggle under Mahatma's Leadership suffered a lot of hardships and made several sacrifices to achieve freedom. It was based on the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi that the idea of India was translated into action as a free country based on equality and justice to all, irrespective of caste, creed, color or religions and the country has withstood the challenges all these years as a vibrant democracy both from within and outside . He referred to the contribution of Lal Bhadur Shastri, who gave the slogan of Jai Jawan and Jai Kisan and led the nation to victory in 1965 war .
He said that Gandhi Ji philosophy is the only way out to sort out and resolve the conflicts and end violence in the world and on June 15, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, October 2nd, as International Day of Non-Violence, the entire World had learned lesson from the philosophy and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi for mutual Co-Existence of people of different faiths and interests, he added.
