JAMMU, Oct 3: As part of two week long Induction-cum-Orientation Program of Four Year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), Government College of Education Jammu organized an interactive session on "Meet the Alumni". Under this initiative, the newly inducted students were given the opportunity to meet august alumnus of 1996-97 Batch Padamshree Romalo Ram.
The principal of the college Dr Jyoti Parihar presented Basoli Painting prepared by college students as a souvenir. She hailed his contribution towards the promotion of Dogri art, culture and music. She also added that the college is proud to have produced three Padamshrees' s so far and it was a great honor for the institution to have an alumnus that has created such rich legacy.
Dr Rakesh Bharti, Convener ITEP apprised the students about life and contribution of Romalo Ramji. In his address to the students, Padsamshree Romalo Ram ji recalled his struggles as a student as he hailed from remote area. He narrated the incidents related to the struggles that he had to face as a student from the rural village of Udhampur. He also apprised the students about the way he brought gold medal for the college in the annual cultural event in 1996 which is still a record. He exhorted the students to serve the soil with passion.
Dr Shalini Rana, IQAC Convener, motivated the students to follow the footsteps of Romalo Ramji, who is a shining example of unparalleled dedication and commitment towards the promotion of rich Dogra art, culture and folk songs. She added that his life is a source of inspiration not only for the students but for the teachers also. The students enthusiastically interacted during the feedback session. The program was attended by Dr Rajinder Kour, Dr Devinder Kour, Prof Balwan Singh, Dr Ambica Sharma and Dr Suraj Prakash
