Congress responsible for entire mess in J&K, says Prof Gupta
3/27/2009 10:19:26 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 27: Holding Congress responsible for entire mess in J&K, the senior BJP and MLA leader Legislators Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has ridiculed the assertion of the Pardesh Congress President and Union Minister, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz that the Congress is committed for having fair delimitation of the Assembly Constituencies in the state.
Sharply reacting over the statement of PCC chief, Prof. Gupta pointed out that the Congress and National Conference ruled this state for more than 55 years and the Congress after deposing and jailing Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in 1953, was in power in this state with more than 2/3rd majority right up to 1975, when this dubious party again handed over the resigns of Government to the same Sheikh who was deposed and dragged to live in be wilderness for 22 years. He said if Congress would have been sincere to end injustice towards Jammu, this party was having despotic powers, he added and alleged that Congress always played deceitful role as far as Jammu was concerned under Communal considerations.
Gupta recalled that after accepting the communal partition of India in 1947, this was the leadership of the Congress who not only granted a separate status to Jammu and Kashmir but also forced Maharaja Hari Singh to live in exile till his death at Mumbai. This heinous act of the Congress leadership was just to appease the communal sentiments of the NC leadership.
He pointed out that he had made a poser during the recent session of the state assembly that what was the justification that Jammu electorates polled 21 Lakhs votes but in the House they were having just 37 members but the Kashmir valley electorates polled only 16 Lakhs votes but were having 46 members. Above all mysterious Constitutional embargo has been put that there would be no delimitation till 2026.
Prof. Gupta maintained that if political slavery of Jammu is ended and due representation is given to the region many complex problems linked with Kashmir would get solved automatically.
