Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 4: Today, the Director Agriculture Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, unveiled the IndoSaw Seed Germinator and Hot Air Ovens at the State Seed Testing Laboratory in Jammu. This significant advancement aims to enhance seed quality testing and ensure optimal agricultural practices in the region.
During the program, Dr. Gopal Krishan Langeh, Seed Analyst, highlighted the innovative features of the new seed germinator, which includes a CE mark immersion heater for durability and safety, a hermetically sealed standard compressor for consistent performance, an imported hygroclip for precise temperature and humidity measurements essential for seed germination, a shock-proof light fixture to enhance user safety, and PUF insulation that promotes energy savings through low thermal conductivity. Dr. Langeh also emphasized the laboratory's ongoing upgrade under the guidance of Director Agriculture Jammu, with NABL Accreditation currently in progress.
Director Agriculture Jammu announced the introduction of seed germinator including new digital moisture meter, which works in conjunction with the new seed germinator. This advanced technology automatically maintains optimal humidity and temperature conditions, significantly reducing the time required for seed germination tests. This timely information is crucial for farmers and facilitating timely seed procurement and ensuring the delivery of high-quality seeds.
"Through this seed germinator, we will be able to conduct comprehensive germination, moisture, and purity tests, ultimately improving the quality of seeds available to our farmers," stated Director Agriculture.
The program was attended by Deputy Director (Central) Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Seed Analyst Dr. Gopal Krishan Langeh, Agronomist (VIS) Vikas Padha, Assistant Entomologist Rajesh Verma, Assistant Agrostologist Amit Sharma, SSA Sonika Rani, JAEO Poonam Jeet Kour, AEA Sanjay Razdan and other members of the State Seed Testing Laboratory team.
