Clean street food challenge at Govt Degree College Samba

SAMBA, Oct 5: The NSS Unit Maitri of SPPND Government Degree College Samba, in collaboration with the Department of Home Science, celebrated NSS Foundation Day with 'Clean Street Food Challenge' on the theme 'Safai Ke Saath Swaad Ka Safar'. The event commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries, symbolizing knowledge, purity, and positivity. Following this, the participants were immersed in a spiritual atmosphere with the recitation of the Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of the Goddess of wisdom and learning for the success of the initiative. The event was organized under the esteemed leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In her address, she emphasized upon the importance of participating in NSS and encouraged the students to engage in various community service activities that lead to nation-building and personal development. She also appreciated the NSS Unit and the Department of Home Science for their efforts in organizing such an impactful program, stressing the need to maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the preparation and serving of street food. Earlier NSS PO Prof. Kamlesh Bala welcomed the chief guest and outlined the importance of NSS by highlighting the core ideals of unity, discipline and compassion as the hallmarks of the National Saving Scheme (NSS). This initiative aimed at creating awareness about food hygiene and cleanliness, while celebrating the flavors of Indian street food. The Clean Street Food Challenge received overwhelming support from students and faculty, with numerous stalls displayed by students offering hygienic versions of popular street food dishes. The event was followed by felicitation of best volunteers of NSS for their participation in seven day special camp at Balore. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Ramandeep Kaur Head Department, Home Science.
