Exit polls 2024: No majority, but NC-Cong alliance to emerge single largest group
10/5/2024 9:50:08 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 5: In the much-anticipated 2024 Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the exit polls indicate a highly competitive race, with no single party expected to secure an outright majority in the 90-member legislative assembly.
According to the latest data from the People’s Pulse exit poll, no political party is forecasted to surpass the halfway mark of 46 seats necessary to form a government independently.
The poll suggests that the Congress-Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) alliance is positioned to emerge as the dominant force, securing the largest share of seats among the contesting parties. This coalition, long viewed as a significant player in Jammu and Kashmir politics, appears to have garnered substantial support across both the Kashmir Valley and parts of Jammu, though not enough to independently govern without forming broader alliances or seeking external support.
The fractured nature of the projected results hints at a diverse political landscape, where regional concerns, local leadership, and longstanding political alignmen
India Today-CVoter
India Today-CVoter exit poll results predicted that of 43 seats in the Jammu region, the Bharatiya Janata Party is projected to 27-31 seats, while 11-15 seats might to the National Conference and Congress alliance.

Dainik Bhaskar exit poll
An exit poll by Dainik Bhaskar forecast the BJP may win 20-25 seats, the Congress and National Conference alliance would win 35-40 seats, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 4-7 seats, and other parties 12-16 seats.
s continue to play a critical role. In the absence of a clear majority, coalition politics and post-election negotiations are likely to dominate the political discourse as parties scramble to form a stable government.
This outcome, while unsurprising given the complexity of the region’s political dynamics, underscores the significant challenges ahead in governing a region with deeply entrenched political, social, and regional divisions. The final results are expected to lead to a period of intense political negotiations as both the Congress-JKNC alliance and other parties look to either consolidate power or explore new alliances.
With these elections being the first since Jammu and Kashmir's reorganization into a Union Territory in 2019, the stakes are high. The exit poll data not only highlights the resurgence of traditional political powerhouses like the JKNC and Congress but also the potential for emerging forces to play a kingmaker role in the formation of the next government. The final tally will be crucial in determining the future course of governance in the region.
